Ministry of Sound
We're in the midst of the Ministry of Sound Classical and Testament tours at work. I'm currently preparing to shoot at the Sydney show tomorrow. It's going to be a hot one!
Setting up this blog
I've had a website for years, but never done much with it. It's usually just been my showreel, some work, and a contact form. I'm currently not looking for much freelance work so I've decided to move my website away from being just a showcase for my work, to a place to share all my interests.
I've always loved tinkering with websites and reading other people's blogs, so I thought I'd finally make my own. I’m using Bear and really love the service so far. Currently pretty much just using Carlos’ theme, but I plan on making some changes soon. I like his photo and notes feeds, which I might also try and implement, but one thing at a time for now.
Preparing for our trip to Northern China
In a few weeks we'll be heading to Harbin to see the Ice Festival. We'll be hitting a few other cities as well, finishing up with a few days in Beijing. This will be my third trip and I'm so excited to go back, even if it'll be -24ºC in Harbin.
Other things I'm up to
- Helping Mon with Poco a Poco, her music and arts school.
- Reading Spark Joy by Marie Kondo, and trying to reduce my possessions to the essentials and things I really love. Her methods were memed on a lot, especially after the Netflix series which I haven't seen, but I think there are some really valuable lessons in the books about living an intentional life.
- Reading The Book of Alchemy by Suleika Jaouad
- Learning Chinese (again). This is my third attempt, and I'm feeling good about my approach this time. In my previous attempts I mostly used apps (Hello Chinese and Super Chinese), but this time I'm focused more on immersion learning, rather than "studying" the language. I'm using Du Chinese for reading and listening, and complimenting that using an Anki deck.
- Analogue planning and journaling. After bouncing off and on a bunch of different notebooks and systems, I think I've found a good system for now. I plan on writing more about this soon.
- Commuting by bike as always. Trying to get longer rides in, but struggling at the moment.
